Live enregistrement amateur : Breakroom (Seattle) premier janvier 99, je pourrais mettre des astérisques pour les titres les plus convaincants, mais l'idéal c'est de loin le CD Here come and other hits. L'album est sorti en 1993, mais les liens youtube laissent penser encore qu'il s'agit de titres plus anciens, de 88.
Pour le live du premier janvier 99, il y a 20 liens youtube pour 22 titres.
Ambition débute bien. Suivent trois titres plus limités, avant Don't want the sun. The Poet ne vaut pas le coup. A partir de la chanson 7, le live devient plus prenant. On peut retenir So good, What does that make you ou Never be the same. Inside est un peu bizarre. Cela repart bien ensuite jusqu'à la fin.

Six grands albums des Supremes, deux par CD. Un paquet de succès internationaux se trouve dans cette liste. Il y a bien sûr des reprises, mais aussi les succès originaux dont ne citer que les gros cartons qu'on entend encore souvent à la radio, voire en boîte de nuit: Stop! in the name of love, You keep me hangin' on (reprise de Vanilla Fudge et succès pour Kim Wilde, etc.), Baby Love, Come see about me, You can't hurry love (reprise à succès pour Phil Collins), etc. Il y a ici un paquet de chansons de haut niveau. Sans hit majeur, l'album Love child est comme Reflections, dont j'ai déjà fait la notice, un album particulièrement agréable à écouter. Enfin, ma conviction est que l'idée de créer Paint it black pour les stones est partie du titre My world is empty without you.

Il y a deux autres CD dans cette série. L'un réunit les albums Let the sunshine in & Cream of the crop, mais je ne le possède pas; l'autre réunit A Bit of Liverpool & TCB (with The Temptations). Je l'ai sous la main, mais TCB est une performance télé et A Bit of Liverpool est un projet plus anecdotique de reprises de chansons anglaises, essentiellement des Beatles (A hard day's night, You can't do that, Can't buy me love, I want to hold your hand, A world without love), avec How do you do it, The House of the rising sun. Mais, cet album de 64 contient encore des titres américains: Because de Dave Clark, Bits and pieces de Dave Clark et Mike Smith, le célèbre You've really got a hold on me de Smokey Robinson, et Do you love me.

126-127. Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band

Le rhythm'n'blues s'est épanoui en Angleterre avec l'intérêt qu'y portèrent les formations anglaises et les Mods. Mais deux artistes américains vinrent en Angleterre pour y former chacun un groupe susceptible d'animer les soirées londoniennes. D'un côté, il y a Jimmy James and the Vagabonds dont je parlerai une prochaine fois, de l'autre, il y a Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band, ma préférence allant nettement à Geno Washington.
J'ai un autre CD de Geno Washington, mais je ne l'ai pas là sous la main. Je vais ici rendre compte de la compilation Foot Stompin' Soul, dont une image du lien Alison please peut donner une idée. Cette compilation compte deux CD, un premier CD live, un second studio. Ma tâche est rendue difficile par le fait que j'ai du mal à trouver les 25 titres lives et une partie des 28 titres studio. Au moins pour le live, je vais donner aussi les minutes des chansons et les compositeurs, parce que c'est un répertoire à base de reprises avec d'ailleurs un peu de Troggs, Beatles, Rolling stones côtoyant Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Stevie Wonder, etc., et parce que, d'autant plus évidemment côté live, les chansons s'enchaînent rapidement sur des tempos soutenus. Les liens que je donne ne correspondent pas à mon CD live qui est pourtant la référence sur Geno Washington. J'ai à peu près réussi à rassembler les liens pour les titres studio, ce qui donnera largement idée de ce qu'il peut manquer comme performances relevées côté live. Il y a d'autres liens lives sur Geno Washington, mais j'aurai l'occasion de m'essayer à une nouvelle entrée à son sujet.
